Professional training for therapists

The Relationship Mapping Method™

A structured visual framework that helps therapists organize complex relational information, recognize the patterns keeping couples stuck, and build clearer case conceptualizations.

Understand the system.
Transform the relationship.

The challenge

Making sense of relational complexity

Couples therapy often involves navigating a large amount of emotional, relational and historical information.

The challenge is not always knowing what to do. Often, it is understanding how all the pieces fit together.

The Relationship Mapping Method™ helps therapists organize complexity, identify recurring interaction patterns and develop greater clinical clarity.

You may know the couple's history, attachment patterns, triggers and wounds, yet still struggle to hold the whole relational system in your mind at once.

What is The Relationship Mapping Method™?

The Relationship Mapping Method™ is a structured visual framework designed to help therapists organize relational information, recognize interaction patterns and build clearer case conceptualizations.

Rather than introducing another therapeutic model, it complements the approach you already use by providing a clearer way to understand the relational system.

Not another model of couples therapy.
A framework for organizing relational complexity.

Every map organizes the story of the relationship into one visual system.

Instead of holding dozens of disconnected pieces of information, you can see how they interact.

Why use relationship mapping?

01

Organize complexity

Structure large amounts of clinical information into a coherent relational map.

02

Recognize patterns

Identify recurring cycles, protective strategies and relational dynamics with greater clarity.

03

Integrate with your approach

Designed to work alongside EFT, Gottman, IFS, psychodynamic, systemic and integrative models.

04

Communicate the pattern

Help couples see their relational dynamic without reducing either partner to “the problem”.

How the method works

A simple three-phase process that turns complexity into clarity.

01

Collect

Gather the relational story:

  • Individual histories
  • Attachment experiences
  • Emotional needs
  • Protective strategies
  • Relationship history
  • Current challenges
02

Map

Organize the information:

  • Interaction cycles
  • Core dynamics
  • Emotional drivers
  • Protective patterns
  • Shared strengths
  • Growth opportunities
03

Guide

Use the map in therapy:

  • Build clearer case conceptualizations
  • Explain dynamics to couples
  • Plan therapeutic interventions
  • Track change over time
  • Support collaborative conversations
